78:15 He broke open rocks in the wilderness,

and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

Mazmur 80:5

80:5 You have given them tears as food; ² 

you have made them drink tears by the measure. ³ 

[78:15]  ¹ tn Heb “and caused them to drink, like the depths, abundantly.”

[80:5]  ² tn Heb “you have fed them the food of tears.”

[80:5]  ³ tn Heb “[by] the third part [of a measure].” The Hebrew term שָׁלִישׁ (shalish, “third part [of a measure]”) occurs only here and in Isa 40:12.
